Rigor
Mortis, otherwise known as R.M., is a vampire. More
specifically, she is a reformed vampire. She worked
out a plea bargain with the Brotherhood and is doing
her community service by serving in Chapter Omega
Fifteen. Though she is a valuable member of the
team, she in essence doesn't want to be there, which
is why she looks bored much of the time.
R.M.
was brought into the vampire fold at Woodstock in
1969. Like most humans infected with vampirism,
it took her a short time to adjust to undeath-ten
years, to be precise. In truth, she never fully
accepted vampirism, and resented being bitten against
her will. In the eighties, she got involved with
a bad crowd of vampires ("dracs" or "vlads"
in Brotherhood slang). Omega Fifteen destroyed the
gang, and R.M. was taken prisoner by the group's
charismatic leader, Gabriel.
At her trial, Gabriel came to her defense. She was
put on probation and given the Brotherhood's standard
treatment for vampirism, Vitamin V. Afterward, she
could walk around in the sun and see her reflection
in the mirror. She's been with Omega Fifteen ever
since.
R.M.
has all the strength and speed of a vampire, but
prefers not to use them-they remind her of what
she is. Instead, she prefers her bullwhip and stake
and mallet, which she uses to destroy the vampires
she hates. She drinks the Brotherhood's artificial
blood substitute, and longs for a day that vampirism
can be cured. Unfortunately, that day is nowhere
in sight.
