Like his past, Silent Jim is shrouded in mystery. Nobody knows where he came from, or when. What is known about him is that he's a crack shot and a brutal fistfighter. Some believe him to be the result of genetic engineering; others are convinced he's an alien. But only one thing is certain about Silent Jim-he has never taken off his sunglasses.

Silent Jim appeared out of nowhere and applied to the Brotherhood without attending the Academy. He fulfilled his entrance requirements in one day, and the Brotherhood had no choice but to accept him. Silent Jim was hired as a Special Agent; no chapter trusted him enough to take him on. He leapt into his work with fanatical devotion, but appeared to take no pleasure from it. Rumors spread about some unknown dark past. In time, his steady performance record caught the eye of Gabriel, who had recently been given command of Chapter Alpha One. Silent Jim remained with Alpha One under Ichabod until Ichabod fired him after a bizarre event that involved a vat of bleach and Ichabod's cat, Blackie. Gabriel quickly hired Silent Jim into Omega Fifteen, where Silent Jim has remained.

Silent Jim has many strange supernatural powers. These powers include bursts of superhuman speed, limited teleportation, and Deep Pockets. Silent Jim is an experienced swordsman, but prefers to rely on his twin silver pistols, which have become as signature to him as his wraparound sunglasses and black fedora. He never says a word.
